The Clinton campaign has released a new ad accusing GOP candidate Donald Trump of flip-flopping on releasing his tax returns, a week after Hillary Clinton and running mate Tim Kaine released their own documents.
The 30-second spot, titled "Absolutely," is being released on the nation's cable channels through a preexisting ad buy, and shows old footage of Trump saying he'd release his tax returns if he ran for office, reports ABC News.
Trump has not yet released the returns, saying he can't do so yet because they are under audit by the Internal Revenue Service.
The ad shows several Republicans, such as 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney suggesting Trump is holding back his tax returns because they do not show he is as wealthy as he claims, or because he may be hiding something about his sources of wealth.
Trump's campaign announced this week it plans to start airing television ads Friday in the battleground states of Florida, Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. As of May, the Trump campaign had spent $20 million on media spots, in comparison to $62 million spent by the Clinton campaign.
