Scattered Boos Greet Christie at Super Bowl Event

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was greeted with a scattering of boos when he appeared at a Super Bowl ceremony in New York City on Saturday.

The embattled governor wouldn't answer questions from the press about the bridge-gate scandal sparked when his top aides orchestrated traffic gridlock on the George Washington Bridge connecting New York and New Jersey as apparent political retribution. He has denied any knowledge of an plot.

In addition to the boos, some in audience cheered. But most people seemed focused on football and largely left him alone Saturday during the NFL’s Hand Off Ceremony in Times Square.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also appeared at the event, where Super Bowl organizing responsibilities were handed off to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

Next year’s Super Bowl is in Glendale, Ariz.
