Sen. Bernie Sanders declared his primary victory in New Hampshire represents "nothing short of a political revolution," and pledged to take his message of reforming income and social inequality across the country.
Recalling his impoverished boyhood in Brooklyn – and his parents' unrealized dream of owning their own home – Sanders said "the government of this great nation belongs to all of us," and said his campaign "is about having the courage to reject the status quo."
He then laid out his vision for change, including campaign finance reform, raising the minimum wage to $15, repairing a "crumbling infrastructure," providing free public college and university tuition, protecting the military and veterans, providing "guaranteed healthcare for all," carrying out criminal justice reform, and moving away from a fossil fuel-based energy.
"My critics say how are you going to pay for it," he said. "I will tell you: we're going to impose a tax on Wall Street speculation. … It's Wall Street's time to help the middle class."
"We will need to come together in a few months to unite this party and this nation because the right wing Republicans we oppose must not win the presidency," he declared. "
"They're throwing everything at me, including the kitchen sink, and the kitchen sink is coming soon," he told cheering supporters.
