Bernie Sanders' answers "were inadequate" during a recent interview with the New York Daily News' editorial board, notes one commentator, who added Hillary Clinton "would be creamed" if she had similar answers.
"Everyone interested in this race should read the interview,"
Mark Halperin of Bloomberg Politics said on Tuesday's "Morning Joe" on MSNBC."Because his answers are not adequate. And I think he'll probably look at that and say they were inadequate. I did an interview with him on economics a few months ago, and his answers were not adequate. And afterwards, he knew that.
"For a guy who’s been in public life for so long, he's talked about the same things over and over.
The Clinton folks are emailing this around and around, and justifiably so. It is a giant double standard. If she gave answers like that, she would be creamed."
John Heilemann, also of Bloomberg, added that Sanders — a Democrat senator from Vermont who is running for the party's presidential nomination opposite Clinton — had several "I don't know" answers during the interview.
Sanders and Clinton have traded barbs on the campaign trail in recent weeks.
