President Barack Obama challenged Congress during his State of the Union address to pass a new authorization for the use of force against the Islamic State (ISIS or ISIL) – punctuating it with the line, "If you doubt America’s commitment — or mine — to see that justice is done, ask Osama bin Laden."
Twitter naturally loved that line or made hay out of it, with conservatives doing the latter, some mocking him for taking personal credit for pulling the trigger, while others said it was old news.
Liberals called the line a "mic drop" and were proud of his swagger.
The Republican candidates hoping to take over the job when Obama leaves office in a year, some of whom the president took swipes at for their own ideas for defeating ISIS, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has said the solution is to "carpet bomb" the terror group. And, the candidates charged, Obama still won't use the term "Islamic terrorism."
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul wasn't in the chamber, but felt a bit like South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson, who yelled, "You lie!" to Obama during a joint session of Congress in September 2009.
