Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in Arizona by less than 2 points, according to the latest Arizona Republic/Morrison/Cronkite News poll that has a 3.3 percent margin of error.
In other words — it's too close to call in a dead red state; former President Bill Clinton was the last Democrat to carry Arizona in his 1996 re-election.
The poll results:
- Clinton: 35.1 percent;
- Trump: 33.5 percent;
- Libertarian Gary Johnson: 6.9 percent;
- Green Party's Jill Stein: 1.5 percent.
The "undecideds" were at 22.9 percent, but when pressed for a lean, Clinton's lead extended to 3 points over Trump — 39.9 percent to 36.8 percent.
According to the poll, Trump is viewed unfavorably by 77 percent of those surveyed, nearly 58 percent of those Hispanic.
The results of the 78 Hispanic voters polled:
- Clinton: 56.2 percent;
- Trump: 15.3 percent;
- Johnson: 9.8 percent;
- Stein: 1.1 percent;
- Undecided: 17.5 percent.
However, the margin of error for that question was +/- 10.8 points, according to the poll. The poll was conducted Aug. 17-31. The sample size was 704 likely voters.
