New DHS Head Should Fully Understand Shariah Threat

The Uzbek jihadist who perpetrated this week’s murderous attack in New York has focused attention on the so-called "diversity lottery" that got him here. If that immigration program is a game of chance for folks like him, it’s Russian roulette of the rest of us.

Ditto the other ways legal and illegal immigrants enter the United States when we fail to keep out adherents to Sharia, the supremacist doctrine that impels jihad. That ideological filter – akin to ones historically applied to Nazis and Communists — must be added to the myriad reforms President Trump has told Congress are needed, including ending the reckless diversity lottery.

At this juncture especially, we need a Homeland Security secretary with extensive management experience in protecting our borders, as well as understanding and countering Sharia-supremacism. Unfortunately, the current nominee, Kirstjen Nielsen, is utterly unqualified to do either.
