Yesterday, President Donald Trump reasserted his constitutional and statutorily conferred authority to bar entry to this country to certain individuals.
In the process of executing a new executive order for this purpose, he rescinded a previous, much criticized and legally challenged one.
But Mr. Trump has reaffirmed the basic principle that he can — and must —act to prevent more actual or potential terrorists from coming here.
Still think that’s unnecessary?
The FBI revealed yesterday that it is investigating 300 refugees suspected of ties to terrorism.
Now, those suspicions may not be verified. But are there more with such ties among the many thousands of others who have come here from nations that are hotbeds of jihadism — including some that are wholly insecure failed states?
Donald J. Trump deserves our thanks for trying to protect us against such clear and probably present dangers.
