Whitman Wraps up Calif. Fundraising Tour De Force

Friday, 23 April 2010 02:20 PM EDT

California Republican gubernatorial hopeful Meg Whitman is wrapping up a week of fundraising with some big GOP names — and attracting some colorful protesters along the way.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney joins her Friday at a luncheon in Sacramento, where tickets start at $1,000 and go up to $25,900.

Protesters organized by the California Nurses Association will appear outside the exclusive Sutter Club, led by a costumed "Queen Meg" arriving in a Rolls Royce. The union says the billionaire candidate, who already has given her campaign $59 million, wants to crown herself queen of California. It supports Democrat Jerry Brown.

Whitman ends her fundraising tour de force Friday night with Romney, former GOP presidential nominee John McCain and former Florida governor Jeb Bush.
