Monday, 15 August 2011 09:12 AM EDT

Brad Pitt is on his way to Glasgow, Scotland to begin filming for his new zombie horror movie ‘World War Z,’ reports Metro.

“We are ready to welcome the World War Z production to Glasgow . . . There is great anticipation in the city ahead of such a huge filming coming here,” Gordon Matheson, leader of the Glasgow City Council, told the BBC.

The city, at least in part, will be transformed into post-apocalyptic, war-torn ruins for a cast and crew of 1,200 people to shoot various scenes in George Square in the city center.

Glasgow locals will get the opportunity to make an appearance in the film as zombie extras.

According to the Glasgow City Council, the film could generate 2 million euros for the local economy.
