Undercover Cop Runs Personal Gambling Ring

Wednesday, 15 June 2011 04:32 PM EDT

Last week, Detective Richard Palase, a 15-year NYPD veteran, was arrested for running a covert gambling operation that made him upwards of $6,000 a day, reports the DNAinfo.

Ironically, Palase was running the gambling ring at the same time he was serving as an undercover cop for “Operation Ivy League,” a drug trafficking investigation that led to the arrests of several Columbia University students.

The students peddled almost $11,000 worth of cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, Adderall, and LSD to the NYPD throughout the covert sting operation.

Now, the Columbia students may find their cases impacted by Palase’s arrest.
