Transformers Smashes Box Office Records

'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' took in $116.4 million over the holiday according to USA Today, bringing the total worldwide gross of the film to just over $400 million, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The film, which stars Shia LaBeouf, holds the new record for largest July 4 opening and marks one of the largest global openings ever.

The third film in the Transformers series joins its two predecessors as enormous box office successes.
