Attention Deficit Disorder: Top 5 Symptoms

Attention Deficit Disorder affects at least 3% to 5% of children globally. The disorder is characterized by a certain amount of hyperactivity along with the presence of an inadequate attention span. It is considered to be a neurobehavioral development disorder, and is one of the most commonly studied psychiatric problems in children.
 
The symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder generally appear before the age of seven. The most prominent symptom of Attention Deficit Disorder is inattention. This is essentially characterized by the child failing to pay close attention to detail and making frequent, careless mistakes in various activities that require their undivided attention. This symptom of Attention Deficit Disorder also involves the child failing to concentrate their attention on one thing in particular for a long period of time.

The child may show signs of being easily distracted, and may transfer their attention quickly from one thing to another. Progressive versions of Attention Deficit Disorder symptoms include getting bored with something quickly and not paying attention when spoken to. The child may also struggle with following a certain set of specific instructions.
 
Another symptom of Attention Deficit Disorder is hyperactivity, also known as ADHD, which may manifest itself in various ways. Ranging from fidgeting and squirming in their seats to displaying extreme energy levels, the child is generally either constantly talking or in constant motion.
 
Attention Deficit Disorder is also characterized by impulsivity. This may include difficulty waiting for things and reacting to situations before they are required to. A child with ADD my also interrupt others and butt into conversations. Impatience and blurting out inappropriate statements are typical indications of Attention Deficit Disorder in children.
 
Some Attention Deficit Disorder symptoms that are common in children and adults include severe depression and learning disabilities. Attention Deficit Disorder in adults may be characterized by leading a chaotic lifestyle and facing difficulty in completing work on time. 

The symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder in adults and children are  different in certain cases. In adults, the chief symptom of ADHD manifests itself as the inability to regulate various emotions.
