Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, a nationwide excuse to imbibe for Irish and non-Irish alike. Many people celebrate by wearing green (if for nothing else, the fear of getting pinched).
Many cities celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by going green. Chicago honors St. Patty’s Day by dying its river green; Indianapolis dyes its main canal, and Savannah dyes its downtown city fountains.
Parades to celebrate St. Patty’s date back to the 1700’s. The longest-running include those in New York, Philadelphia, Morristown, Boston, and New Orleans.
Traditional St. Patty’s day dishes include corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, and anything dyed green!
