New Smartphone Apps Aid Bar Goers

Friday, 12 August 2011 02:06 PM EDT

Various smartphone apps have recently rolled out that allow you to check out various forms of nightlife in your area before you walk in, reports Fox News

‘BarHappy,’ allows you to search for the most cost-effective happy hour in your area. The app comes free and uses GPS technology to help you scour your town for daily entertainment and happy hour specials.

Categories for search include atmosphere, sports team, date spot, live music, brunch, and others. If you find somewhere you’re interested in, you can simply hit the “take me there” button for directions.

‘Scenetap” is another new smartphone app that allows you to view the scene at any given bar before you decide to go there. The app uses cameras set up in various bars that allow users to see in real time what the atmosphere looks like, including how many people are there.

The app, launched in Chicago, also allows you to see the male to female ratio at profiled bars along with the age range of bar goers.

The new “InMyBar” app lets users come up with their own mixed drinks by choosing from a variety of brand name ingredients including spirits, mixers, fruits, and juices.

The app, which costs only $0.99, prompts users to answer the questions what do I have, what can I make, and what do I need, in order to create a pleasing cocktail
