Schwarzenegger's Son Released From Hospital After Surfing Accident

Thursday, 28 July 2011 12:57 PM EDT

The Schwarzenegger clan has been surrounded by drama in recent months, and on July 17 the family was forced to weather another storm when 13-year-old son Christopher was involved in a serious surfing accident, reports the Los Angeles Times.

According to several reports, he sustained broken bones and a collapsed lung in the incident.

Much to his family’s delight, the youngest Schwarzenegger was released from UCLA’s Intensive Care Unit on Monday.

Mom Maria Shriver, 55, announced the good news of her son’s recovery on Twitter on Tuesday.

“Blessed to be able to take Christopher out of the hospital last night. What a feeling of relief to know that he’s going to be fine,” Shriver wrote.

Dad Arnold weighed in as well. He tweeted, “I knew Christopher couldn’t be stopped! Big thanks to all the doctors, nurses & staff at UCLA that helped him recover.”
