The four lunar eclipses occurring throughout 2014-15 are known as a tetrad. Each eclipse happens as the Earth comes between the sun and the moon, giving the moon a reddish glow. This could foretell a Red Moon Rapture, in which faithful Christians are transported to heaven and Christ eventually returns, according to some believers of Bible prophecy.

Tetrads have signified major events in the past, including war between Israel and Arab states in 1949-50 and the Israeli victory in the Six Day War in 1967.

Here are six examples of required reading to learn about the tetrad and apocalyptic prophecy:

“Blood Moons Rising: Bible Prophecy, Israel, and the Four Blood Moons” informs readers what the Bible says and doesn’t say about the red moon phenomenon, says author Mark Hitchcock, an Oklahoma pastor. The events of today are clear signs that the end days are coming. Hitchcock writes about how attention will be paid to those events as the lunar eclipses run their course.

Mark Biltz, a pastor from Washington state, explains the Jewish feast days, the biblical calendar, and concerns about the Red Moon Rapture in “Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs.” In the foreword, Joseph Farah writes that it’s not a question of if or when these heavenly signs occur, but “what they mean — and whether they are biblical harbingers of things to come for the world and for God’s People.”

In “Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change,” Pastor John Hagee of San Antonio, Texas, focuses on the role Israel plays during the tetrad. Hagee sees the turmoil in the Middle East along with Iran’s intent on acquiring nuclear weapons as a threat to Israel, which will eventually become victorious in Jerusalem with the return of the Messiah.

“Behold a White Horse: The Blood Moon at Passover, 2014 a Sign of Judgment” by Richard Ruhling explains the various biblical passages and their connection to the Apocalypse. He’s been studying Bible prophecy for 25 years.

Peter D. Goodgame is the author of “The Second Coming of the Antichrist” and “Red Moon Rising: The Rapture and the Timeline of the Apocalypse.” You can read his detailed breakdown of the signs surrounding the Red Moon Rapture on the Apocalypse Soon website. Goodgame gives his views on the seals, trumpets, the coming of the Antichrist, and the Day of the Lord.

Irvin Baxter is the founder of Endtime Ministries, publisher of Endtime magazine, and author of “Understanding the Endtime.” He explains the prophecy of the four blood moons on the Endtime Ministries website. Baxter predicts major changes in Israel during this tetrad, just as enormous changes have affected the Jewish people in the past during these events.
