Add Flower Pollen Extract for a Healthier Prostate

The prostate gland can be a source of health concerns for men as they age. Besides prescription drugs, natural supplements like flower pollen extract have been shown to promote prostate health.

Prostatitis.net, explained that flower pollen extracts used for prostate health are standardized formulations of extracts from rye grass pollen, corn pollen, and timothy pollen.

These supplements are often marketed under the names Cernilton or Graminex, and their powerful anti-inflammatory properties are helpful in the treatment of urinary symptoms associated with chronic prostatitis and enlarged prostate gland.

In fact, the efficacy of Graminex was backed by enough research that it was considered a Tier 1 treatment option for chronic prostatitis and pelvic pain.

According to Total Health Magazine, of the prostate problems that affect men, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate was the one that concerned them the most.

As men age, they naturally begin to produce less testosterone which signals the body to produce other hormones to attempt to increase testosterone production. These other substances usually result in higher levels of existing testosterone being converted to a substance called 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which can result in swelling and enlargement of the prostate.

Flower pollen extract can help block the formation of DHT and help prevent or slow down the progression of enlarged prostate.

Enlarged prostate is commonly treated with prescription drugs like Flomax or Proscar that help relieve the urinary symptoms of BPH, said Dr. John Gray.

However, herbal remedies like flower pollen extract may be just as effective at treating certain symptoms, and there is even some evidence that flower pollen extract can help prevent the growth of cancer cells in the prostate. These supplements cost less than prescription medications and have almost no side effects.

Dr. Aaron Katz, director of the Center of Holistic Urology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center said, “In the past, the role of these herbal remedies has been overlooked by many. But there is now enough laboratory and clinical evidence to recommend their use in many patients with BPH and to maintain good overall prostate health.”
