Here are seven great places to visit when in the Buckeye State:

1.
Rock and Rock Hall of Fame and Museum: Located in Cleveland, this museum offers the largest collection of rock artifacts in the world. Around 9 million people visit the museum every year. Water rides and a huge tidal wave are among other adventures families on vacation or staycation can enjoy.

3. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base: Located in Dayton, the base is home to the Huffman Prairie Flying Field, where Wilbur and Orville Wright worked on building their aircraft and learned to fly. The site's offerings for children include a "Kite Flight" program, where participants can see a kite building demonstration and then join in the fun of flying a homemade kite.

4. Pro Football Hall of Fame: Located in Canton, nearly 200,000 people visit this attraction annually. The hall's exhibits include numerous interactive displays that are popular with younger visitors, including an area where they can test their football trivia knowledge and play EA Sports Madden Football.

The zoo is particularly a favorite for children and offers a selection of rides, a 4-D theater and various animal shows and encounters.

7. American Sign Museum: Located in Cincinnati, this unique and colorful museum displays various signs in more than 19,000 feet of square space while also offering a look at how they're made.
