The Oakland Raiders have a unique new addition to the team: a grandmother. According to The Pinnacle, Susie Sanchez, a mother of three and grandmother of one, has been hired as a sideline cheerleader for the 2011-2012 season.
After multiple auditions, 37-year-old Susie finally got the call that she had been chosen to become a Raiderette. “I just started crying,” said the atypical grandmother, who has been dancing since the age of eight. “It was like, ‘wow.’ I was overwhelmed with emotion…just never give up.”
It seems that the Raiders are carrying on a tradition by hiring Susie—back in 2003 the Raiderettes were joined by Kathy Ferrin, who became a grandmother the very same year.
