Newt Mourns Polar Bear Knut's Passing

Newt and Knut in happier times: Gingrich with the polar bear as a baby, in 2007.

Knut the 4-year-old German polar bear passed away at the Berlin Zoo this week and fans worldwide, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, are in mourning.
 

Gingrich took to Twitter to air his lament, tweeting, “Sad News! Just learned knut the polar bear died suddenly at 4 — Callista and I visited him in berlin when he was 5 months old — he was cute.”
 

Gingrich later posted a picture of him and Knut on his Facebook page.
