1. Enfield
Enfield is a small town that is situated right on the banks of Mascoma Lake. Although Enfield is not the hub of socialites, it was recently ranked the most affordable small town in New Hampshire, according to Business Insider. Besides having a great view of Mascoma Lake, Enfield has a 0 percent poverty rate. In addition to these factors, 87.3 percent of homes in Enfield are affordable.

2. Portsmouth
Senior citizens who are considering spending their retirement in New Hampshire may want to consider the city of Portsmouth for their new home. The median household income is $64,577 and the median price of a home is $327,900, according to Livability. The people of Portsmouth have 51 acute care hospitals accessible to within a 60-mile radius.

3. Concord
When it comes to popular spots for retirement in New Hampshire, the town of Concord is one that comes up often being one of the best places to live in the state. According to Livability, out of this town of fewer than 22,000 people, approximately 9,353 people own their own homes. The average home price is $218,300 and the average mortgage payment is $1,825 per month. What makes this town so attractive is that about 64 percent of homeowners and a little more than 50 percent of those who rent spend less than 30 percent of their money on housing expenses.

4. Manchester-Nashua
According to Forbes magazine, the Manchester-Nashua metro area ranks in the No. 1 spot among the cheapest places to live in New England. This means that it is easier for those seeking retirement in New Hampshire towns like this one to make their paychecks go further and thus enjoy a better overall quality of life.
