Mike Vrable, former All-Pro outside linebacker, has announced his retirement to become the linebackers coach at Ohio State after 14 years in the NFL, reports
The Herald News.
Vrabel announced his retirement Monday from the Kansas City Chiefs.
He will take the spot that Luke Fickell, former roommate and teammate, was formerly in. Fickell moved into the position of head coach earlier this year after Jim Tressel was forced to resign.
“I am so happy for him transitioning into an area of his life that he is so passionate about. We had many conversations in the stretch line about the Ohio State Buckeyes. You’d hear him and Tom Brady talking about Ohio State and Michigan . . . He was proud of being a Buckeye,” friend and former teammate Tedy Bruschi said of the linebacker.
