A British couple has reported a possible sighting of missing child Madeleine McCann in Leh, India,
reports Scotland’s STV. McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said investigations into the sighting were underway, but that the little girl’s family has no plans to travel to India.
“Initial reports were very confused — some witnesses said the little girl was about six years old — Madeleine is now eight and would look substantially different from the little girl who was taken. The search for Madeline is very much alive and we will continue to follow up every lead."
Mitchell expressed the McCann family’s gratitude for the tip, but also said that the sighting was “no more credible” than other leads they have received.
Madeleine vanished during a family vacation to Portugal in May 2007. Her parents, Kate and Gerry, had left the girl and her siblings unsupervised while dining with friends nearby.
