The Log Cabin Republicans were excluded from the Western Conservative Summit, sponsored by Colorado Christian University. Summit chairman John Andrews said they “advocate contrary to our agenda and our core beliefs,” referring to the group’s support of
gay marriage, according to The Denver Post.
The decision sparked controversy, and the Log Cabin Conservatives responded on social media: “Apparently a low-tax, pro-energy, pro-business, pro-freedom agenda is not welcomed by the Western Conservative Summit if civil marriage equality is any part of an organization's policy.”

1. Personal Responsibility
Log Cabin Republicans stand for personal responsibility, individual liberty, limited government, a strong national defense and low taxes,
according to the group’s website, LogCabin.org.
2. Work Ethic
The group supports taxpaying families and a strong work ethic.
3. Equality
It promotes the notion that all Americans are entitled to both liberty and equality. The group asserts on its website: "We believe equality for LGBT Americans is in the finest tradition of the Republican Party. We educate our Party about why inclusion wins. Opposing gay and lesbian equality is inconsistent with the GOP’s core principles of smaller government and personal freedom."
4. Change
The group considers itself a grassroots organization, which is focused on creating change.
5. Coalition Building
It is a coalition-builder, seeking support not only from gays and lesbians throughout the country but from both Republicans and Democrats. It works to create allies within its own party, noting with such support, equality becomes reality.
