Although Montana voters overwhelmingly passed a law legalizing weed for medicinal purposes in 2004, Montana's legislature has been unable to bring about a practical regulatory system that would guarantee that patients have safe, regular access to medicine.
Earlier this year, The Marijuana Policy Project, the nation’s largest organization working solely on marijuana policy reform from its headquarters in D.C., announced that it would help fund a voter initiative to legalize and regulate marijuana for Montana adults in 2016. However, they’d only participate if local supporters were able to raise roughly $200,000. Their efforts have all but fizzled out due to an apparent lack of public support.
