Friday, 02 September 2011 10:05 AM EDT

Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara will be unable to attend their granddaughter Lauren Bush’s wedding due to health concerns, reports the Daily Caller

The wedding, slated to take place at a Colorado ranch Sunday, poses a threat to the Bush’s health due to the high altitude.

George H. W. Bush is 87 years old, and wife Barbara is 86.

Pre-wedding activities will include a baseball game at the “Double RL” ranch, something that the elderly Bush’s would be likely unable to participate in.

Lauren Bush will marry designer Ralph Lauren’s son David, but plans to hyphenate her last name after tying the knot.
