Israeli Dairy Production Thriving

In data released Monday by the Central Bureau of statistics, Israeli dairy cows produced more milk than their foreign counterparts. Israeli cows produced an average of 10,208 kilograms of dairy per cow.

This number leads U.S. cows whose production is at 9.331 kg. per cow.

Other countries trumped by Israeli production include Japan at 7,497 kg., the European Union at 6,139 kg., and Australia at 5,601kg.

According to the Jerusalem Post, dairy consumption was expected to rise in the days leading up to Shavuot, which officially takes place Wednesday. Israeli officials claim the rise in production and consumption indicates Israel is developing a competitive dairy industry.

“Israel is a power in the field of dairy products. A short visit to any supermarket in the country reveals a wide variety of wonderful products that make a meaningful contribution to our daily menu. In addition to the developing dairy industry, special boutique dairy production plants have arisen, which manufacture excellent cheeses,” Dairy Board CEO Shayke Drori said.
