If you and your family are thinking about spending a few days in a new place, why not plan a visit to Idaho? Aside from being the country's biggest supplier of potatoes, Idaho has many attractions families on vacation or staycation can explore and enjoy.

Here are seven sites to experience:

1. Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve: If you crave adventure and the outdoors, then you have to make this one of your first stops. Spend a day hiking and exploring the Craters of the Moon Wilderness, including the Lava Trees and the Echo Crater. Families on a staycation can enjoy being outside in the wilderness.

2.Sun Valley: Known as the Nordic skier's paradise, Sun Valley provides skiing enthusiasts with the greatest cross-country skiing in the country. You can also enjoy snowshoeing activities through some breathtakingly stunning terrains.

Yellowstone National Park: Established in 1872, Yellowstone is the country's first national park, spreading across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. It is known for its wildlife and its many geothermal features, especially Old Faithful Geyser. Families on a staycation or vacation can enjoy geyser activities, as well as hiking, camping,  fishing, picnicking and back country camping for the more seasoned adventurers.

5. Shoshone Falls: Located in southern Idaho on the Snake River, Shoshone Falls is actually higher than Niagara Falls at 212 feet. 6. The Coeur d'Alene: An area surrounded by "dozens of lakes left behind by the glaciers of the ice age." This magical place will provide you and your family with various activities like biking, trail hiking, as well as fun rides. There's also plenty of shopping and a phenomenal golf course.
