Hunting and fishing in Missouri has long been a treasured pastime, especially in the Missouri Ozarks, considered “the outdoor recreation capital of Missouri,” according to the Missouri government’s hunting and fishing site.

There are several online resources that can enhance the outdoor experience. Here are three to help you prepare for your time in the field:

1. MO Hunting
When you’re on the go, there’s nothing better than a helpful app, so the Missouri Department of Conservation pulled resources together in order to create MO Hunting, which allows hunters to purchases their hunting licenses, share harvest results, and view harvests and permits from previous years.

The app was just released at the end of 2014 and the Missouri Department of Conservation is eager to hear feedback from users to help make improvements and inform additions that will be made with future iterations of the app.

The website by the Missouri Department of Conservation has everything a hunter needs in order to learn about where, when, and how to hunt in the state of Missouri. It also hosts web cameras so nature lovers can also view what’s going on throughout the state even when they can’t get outside to enjoy it themselves.

Other features include contact information for regional offices, events related to the outdoors, and hunter education requirements.

3. Hunting Works for Missouri
This website is dedicated to preserving the tradition of hunting and work to ensure hunters’ rights are protected and considered as well as emphasizing the economic impact hunting and shooting makes on the state and local communities.

They describe their mission as being “advocates for public policy that supports jobs and economic prosperity. As a grassroots organization, we tell the story of the role of hunting and shooting sports play in both the heritage and the economic health of Missouri.”
