Thursday, 26 May 2011 11:09 AM EDT

Endometriosis is a gynecological medical condition that causes the endometrial cells to appear on the ovaries or outside the uterus. In general, endometriosis is caused by hormonal changes. If you know what endometriosis is and understand endometriosis symptoms, you will be able to know if you have any of those signs and seek timely medical intervention.

Endometriosis is found in women of reproductive age. There are four endometriosis stages, with the fourth stage being the worst and the first one being the stage with minimal complications.

Endometriosis symptoms include:
Pelvic pain that worsens with the worsening of the condition, lower back and abdominal pain, urinary urgency, pain during sex, constipation, headache, depression, anxiety, fatigue, and gastrointestinal symptoms. The symptoms worsen during menstrual cycle. Pain in the pelvic, abdominal, and lower back area that is chronic in nature is called as the endometriosis pain. Such pain is the most common and major symptom of this condition.

Women suffering from endometriosis generally face infertility as well, which is called endometriosis infertility. Therefore, timely diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis is necessary for preventing consequent infertility.
