Natural Herpes Treatments

Monday, 28 February 2011 04:58 PM EST

Herpes is a virus that affects the mouth and genital area. Genital herpes affects both men and women and spreads through skin-to-skin contact.

There are two types of herpes: Herpes Simplex One and Herpes Simplex Two. Herpes Simplex One affects the mouth and spreads through oral sex. Herpes leads to genital herpes and affects the genital and anal areas in both men and women.

Many natural herbal supplements are available that can be used as part of a herpes treatment, including:

Garlic: As a natural herpes treatment, you can use garlic. It contains sulfur and is antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial. By eating a few cloves of garlic everyday, you may be able to keep the herpes virus at bay.

Echinacea: Echinacea strengthens the immune system. As herpes home treatment, echinacea can be consumed in different forms including juices, tea, or pills.

Goldenseal: Instead of garlic, you could try goldenseal. Make a paste of goldenseal, black walnut hull powder, and echinacea and apply the paste on herpes sores to heal them.

Over-the-counter herpes treatments are available in the form of medications and ointments.
