The conclusion of the generation defining saga known as 'Harry Potter' will arrive on midnight Thursday and already the film is breaking records,
Reuters reports.
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' sold out more than 6,000 midnight shows on Thursday on the movie ticketing website fandango.com. That figure is more than any other movie in history, including films such as 'The Dark Knight' and 'New Moon.'
Estimates for the opening weekend are in the range of $125 million to $150 million. The record for largest opening weekend belongs to 2008’s 'The Dark Knight' with $158.4 million.
Internationally the film has already proven to be a success. It’s international debut was 87 percent higher than its predecessor’s.
In total, the Harry Potter films have raked in a staggering $6.4 billion at global box offices for Warner Bros. making it the highest grossing film series of all time ahead of franchises such as Star Wars and James Bond.
