How to Treat Halitosis

Wednesday, 01 June 2011 12:50 PM EDT

To get rid of bad breath, which can be a socially embarrassing thing, it is important to seek halitosis treatment while ensuring good oral hygiene. Remember that poor dental hygiene is a major cause of halitosis.

For curing bad breath, first of all, maintain good dental hygiene. This involves brushing your teeth regularly, flossing, and seeing your dentist regularly. Some dental hygienists recommend brushing your tongue or using tongue scrapers, since it traps large amounts of bacteria that can cause bad breath.

Deficiency of vitamin C is also considered to be a factor that promotes bad breath. As the nicotine in cigarettes destroys vitamin C, smokers should regularly take vitamin C supplements in order to avoid/cure halitosis.

For getting rid of halitosis, keep your mouth moist since a dry mouth also causes bad breath. One of the best ways of curing bad breath is chewing gum because it help stimulate saliva and keeps bad breath away.
