Smith & Wesson sets a certain percentage of its production for the law enforcement/first responder/military discount program.
In order to qualify for the Smith & Wesson discount, as detailed from a manufacturer's
announcement on the D&L Shooting Supplies website, an individual must be employed in one of the following law enforcement capacities:
• All sworn LEO (Law Enforcement Officers) state, county and local
• All federal LEO - F.B.I., U.S. Marshals, DEA, DHS, etc.
• All corrections officers, including parole and probation officers
• All retired LEO with "retired" credentials including federal, state, county and local
• State licensed security companies
• State/city licensed security officers
• Commercial pilot license holders and federal flight deck officers
• Court judges
• District attorneys and deputy district attorneys
• Firefighters (including volunteer fireman) with appropriate I.D. and letterhead with verification of duty purpose
• Active or retired military
Proof of eligibility is required and the distributor or dealer will keep a copy of the eligibility on file.
Quantico Tactical, located in Texas, is considered one of the largest suppliers of discounted weapons. Rebates for qualified individuals average from $50 to $100 off per firearm, depending on the model. Only one discount can be applied on a purchase. Individuals receiving a law enforcement discount are not eligible to receive additional discount or promotions on the same purchase.

Smith & Wesson also offers various promotions throughout the year on their website that increase the savings already provided for law enforcement officers. The catch is that they must purchase a firearm during those sale periods. Also, a limit is usually placed on the number of firearms that an individual can purchase during the promotions. Firearms cannot be purchased for resale purposes,
as explained in Smith & Wesson's online discussion forum.
According to D&L Shooting Supplies, the models available for discounted purchase vary from year to year. Currently D&L offers more than 200 Smith & Wesson firearms under the law enforcement discount.
