With its M9 pistol a firearm of choice for many police departments and military branches in the United States and abroad, Beretta also offers the same gun in the 92FS version for civilian use.

Paul Markel, writing for Tactical-life.com, notes that the M9 is a great gun when he helps people to train because it can be learned and operated by any sized shooter. For the military, it revolutionized things with the double-action trigger and active de-cocking mechanism that allowed troops to walk around with “loaded” guns. The M1911A1 prohibited a chambered round, and the change made a big difference in the ways troops acted in everyday life as well as how they could interact with foreign populations. The M9 and 92FS seemed to please everyone who used them, and everyone used them.

Tom McHale of GunsAmerica.com offers a Beretta review that echoes many of the same praises many Beretta enthusiasts also share after his first experience with the 1301 Tactical Shotgun: “The gun is exactly what I expected. Compact and light, it handles like a dream,” said McHale. “I’m already sold on its value as a home defense option.”
