Gun giveaways are a successful marketing tool used by companies and other organizations to draw traffic to their websites, retail locations, or to bring attention to Second Amendment advocacy groups. Both short-term and long-term sweepstakes opportunities that award firearms or gun-related accessories are available online. Entrants to any gun giveaway are advised to read the official sweepstakes rules to make sure that they meet the eligibility requirements, especially as they apply to state and federal laws related to gun prizes and their delivery.

Below are six sites to watch for gun giveaways:

1. National Rifle Association Sweepstakes: The NRA is currently running a long-term gun giveaway opportunity called the Six Shooter Sweepstakes. The giveaway allows for multiple entries — one entry per person or email per day. Entrants are offered the opportunity to join the NRA but are not required to do so to enter the sweepstakes; the prizes include guns, gear, and hunting trips.

2. On Target Magazine: On Target is a free magazine that can be picked up in gun and hunting stores across the nation and accessed on the Internet as well. Every issue of the magazine offers entrants the opportunity to win guns and gear. An example of one of their gun giveaway prizes included an Alexander Arms’ R-17-ST AR rifle chambered .17 HMR, and an Otis Small Caliber Cleaning System.

3. Guns Magazine: Guns magazine offers a Gun of the Month giveaway with prize packages that include guns, gear and gun care products. Entrants must complete a brief gun related survey.

4. The Weapon Blog: This site posts multiple listings of current sweepstakes that give away handguns, rifles, shotguns, air rifles, ammunition, knives, hunting trips, and weapon accessories. Included are links to raffles and even a giveaway of a "Pocket-sized Constitution and Declaration of Independence."

5. The National Association for Gun Rights: This association of more than 3.5 million members states that its mission is to lead "the charge to halt the radical anti-gun agenda across the nation." In addition to firearm news, gun law resources, and a "federal bill watch," the site offers a monthly sweepstakes. Recent prizes included a Colt 6920, $1,000 in ammunition, and a .308 Patrol Rifle Package with a thermal-imaging scope.

6. Gun Winner: This online retail site sells guns, gear, and ammo and has "daily deals." It also runs a series of gun giveaways with prizes such as an Armalite AR 30A1 target rifle and an Armasight Orion night vision rifle scope.
