Model 1915: Beretta’s first-ever pistol was supplied almost exclusively to the Italian Military during both Word War I and World War II. It was so popular that, according to The Shooter's Log, the blog of cheaperthandirt.com, Beretta was making “more than 4,000 model 1915’s a month.” That’s about 133 guns a day and almost five every hour, proving that this truly was the most popular model of the time.

Model 92: This 9 MM pistol quickly became a hit in Italy and abroad, successfully making the leap to the United States in 1977. Yet its popularity didn’t end there, as it became an international staple within many armies and law enforcement agencies. As author R.L. Wilson states in The World of Beretta: An International Legend, the Model 92 had at one point become the single-most popular self-loading pistol for militaries around the world.

Their popularity within the U.S. was cemented in 1985, when the Model 92 beat out the Sig P226 to become the standard issue pistol of the U.S. Armed Forces, having passed an endurance test of firing 35,000 rounds without breaking, according to an article by Charles Bennett for Police.com.
