As leaders in Washington, D.C., fight over energy policies, the topics of global warming and climate change continue to be debated. While many Republicans oppose Obama's energy policies on economic grounds, others leaders flat out say they don’t agree because they believe global warming is fake.

Below are seven politicians who speak against laws global warming:
Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla. A senior member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, actively disagreed with President Clinton’s global warming policies, believing they do “more harm than good.” In an August 2014 press release Inhofe said, “Additional U.S. restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions will only hurt the United States.”
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. While Rubio believes that the climate is changing, he openly questions human involvement in the crisis. Rubio said he is firmly opposed to certain legislation concerning climate change. On CNBC’s "Squawk Box" in May, Rubio said, “I do not believe these laws will do anything about it. And I’m not going to help destroy America’s economy.”
Ken Cuccinelli. The former Virginia attorney general and Republican candidate for governor filed a legal challenge against the EPA over climate change. As attorney general, Cuccinelli sued a climate scientist at the University of Virginia for fraud.
Rep. Morgan Griffith, R-Va. Says he is against EPA regulations sending jobs to areas that might not be as responsible and might promote greenhouse gases, while he in the same speech questions scientific findings that global warming is any more significant now than it was at historical points in history. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif. Rohrabacher has very publically denied global warming on the floor of the House as well as in town hall meetings. In a June 27 open letter to President Obama published in
The Washington Times, Rohrabacher wrote, “Mr. President, we both know I have referred to the theory of man-made global warming as a “hoax,” and, yes, I once used to the phrase “dinosaur flatulence” as a soft jab at what I considered to be climate alarmism.
Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. Bachmann opposes Obama energy tax and says, “More and more evidence is pointing to the highly skeptical statistics of global warming trends, and the scientific community is becoming increasingly wary about the soundness and significance of man-made global warming.”
Lousiana state Rep. Lenar Whitney. Whitney feels so strongly that global warming is a hoax that she made a
video about it.
Despite believing that global warming is fake, these politicians are not likely to have a challenge with their constituents. According to a
2014 Gallup Politics poll, while most people in the U.S. do believe in global warming, they do not see it as a serious threat. The percentage of people who believe global warming is or will happen in their lifetime is about 65 percent. The percentage of people who believe it will pose a serious threat to their way of life is about 36 percent. Both percentages have held basically steady over the last 15 years.
