Global Warming Deniers, Believers Battle: Twitter War Erupts Over November Snowstorm

A snowstorm that blanketed parts of the northern United States in mid-November created its own storm of controversy on Twitter as global warming deniers pointed to it as proof against climate change, while believers offered their own version of events.

One northern Wisconsin town, Gile, may have broken state records with 50 inches of snow in a four-day time period, The Weather Channel said.

“The massive snow accumulation was due to a combination of widespread snowfall from earlier in the week, followed by several days of lake-effect snow as poured over the relatively warm and still unfrozen waters of Lake Superior,” TWC said.

The extreme cold weather brought out tweets, mostly from climate change deniers scoffing about any warming trends. But a few believers took the time to point out the error of their reasoning, making for lively Twitter discussions.
