Girls With Guns: 4 Tips for Finding Female Firearms Instructors

By    |   Monday, 16 March 2015 03:21 PM EDT

Girls with guns often prefer to learn from other women, but finding female instructors can sometimes be a daunting task. Here are four tips for finding the right female firearms instructor for you:

1. Talk to your local gun range. They know that women are one of the fastest-growing groups of gun owners today and because of this, many often hire female firearms instructors. They often hold women-only firearms classes as well.

2. There are several reputable, female-specific, nationwide gun organizations that are wildly popular, and they require that their leaders be NRA-certified firearms instructors. You can find links to the instructors' contact information on their websites. Two of the most popular are The Well Armed Woman and A Girl and A Gun.

3. Visit the National Rifle Association's website. They keep a current listing of classes offered and hundreds of their instructors list their classes publicly, along with their personal contact information. A growing number of these classes are taught by women.

4. Do a Facebook search. There are countless pages dedicated to girls with guns, and female firearms instructors are either members of or run these pages themselves. Two very good ones to start with are Women NRA Instructors and Armed American Ladies.
