There are girls with guns who purchased or inherited a firearm that have never had any formal firearms training. Many of these learn basic firearms safety from a trusted family member or friend.
Others don't hesitate to sign up for an initial class (perhaps one that their state requires), but then never again take another class after a first basic course. Thinking that you "know enough" or that your informal lesson 20 years ago with Grandpa was sufficient is a huge mistake.

There are things taught in a formal course that you just don't get outside of the classroom. Ongoing training ensures that you stay current in both laws and skills as well.
Here are a four more reasons why ongoing training is so important:
1. If you don't use it, you lose it: Maybe you did take a firearms safety course 10 years ago. How much of that do you remember now? A good bit of it, like laws, has likely changed as well. A refresher course is never a bad idea. The next level of courses for your current skills is even better.
2. There is always something new to learn: Every time you take a course, you gain additional knowledge and more valuable skills. Every instructor has something different to impart to his students, so no class will ever be the same.

3. Shooting competitively: Ongoing training courses also offer you an advantage when it comes to shooting competitively. If you take regular competitive shooting courses and routinely participate in competitive events, your marksmanship skills will only improve.
4. Knowledge: Meeting new people
and taking advantage of the knowledge base from both your fellow classmates and ongoing instructors can only improve your own knowledge going forward.
No matter how new or experienced you are with your firearm, ongoing training will only make you a safer, more skilled marksman. In addition, girls with guns are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
