While girls with guns may occasionally run into "range chauvinism," where a range employee ignores them or speaks to male companions instead, thankfully those kinds of ranges are the exception rather than the rule.
Here are four tips for finding female-friendly gun ranges:

1. Look for female employees. Chances are they were hired specifically to attract the business of girls with guns. There are also many ranges now that are owned and managed by women. Female employees won’t try to convince you that you can’t handle a semi-automatic or blindly assume that you want a pink or purple gun.
2. Get involved with women’s shooting groups such as A Girl and a Gun and The Well Armed Woman. These groups hold monthly chapter meetings at designated female-friendly ranges.
3. Look into national shooting organizations, such as the National Sports Shooting Foundation, Glock Sport Shooting Foundation, and Project Appleseed. These groups shoot at various ranges nationwide. You will meet many women who can point you in the right direction at these events.
4. Think about joining your local competitive shooting league. These leagues hold competitive shooting events locally, but the ranges may vary from one event to another, so you will get a chance to visit several over a short period of time. Two good ones are International Defensive Pistol Association and United States Practical Shooting Association.
