Benefits and Info About Garden of Life Raw Probiotics

By    |   Monday, 08 February 2016 05:19 PM EST

Garden of Life’s raw probiotics may provide benefits to those who choose to use them, but consumers should research and be informed about any supplements they plan to add to their routine.

The company's raw digestive products include ingredients uncooked, untreated, and unadulterated, according to Garden of Life’s website. Binder and fillers are not used in the creation of their probiotic supplements.

ALERT: Weird Gut Bacteria Linked to Digestion, Heart, Obesity, Brain Problems

Garden of Life sells nine different types of probiotic supplements. Two focus on regrowth of Bifidobacterium probiotics. Others contain upwards of 30 different types of strains of probiotics to encourage recolonization of healthy bacteria in the gastrointestinal gut.

The makers claim the probiotics support balancing gut flora, improving digestion and absorptions of nutrients, increasing gut-related and overall immune health, and benefiting mental health, even lowering stress levels.

The different probiotics are each intended for certain consumers’ need, sex, and age. For women, the supplements claim to support vaginal health, thyroid function, healthy cholesterol levels, and perhaps even breast health. On the men’s side, the company says the probiotics are beneficial for heart and prostate health, as well as blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Dietary supplements are not subject to testing by the Federal Drug Administration, and the agency has not evaluated Garden of Life's probiotic products.

TransformYourHealth.com says Garden of Life’s raw probiotics are some of the most potent, and also contain vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, and prebiotics.

People with allergies and dietary specifications should read the ingredients before taking the probiotics. The healthy microbes come from Bulgarian yogurt and Eastern European wild kefir and are not dairy-free. None of the Garden of Life probiotics contain gluten. Some do not have soy, are vegetarian friendly, GMO-free, or organic.

Since the raw probiotics contain active, live cultures, consumers should be sure to keep the supplements refrigerated, according to iHerb.
