Fried Kool-Aid: Newest Fair Food

Wednesday, 22 June 2011 02:45 PM EDT

The San Diego County Fair, also called the Del Mar Fair, is gaining attention for its newest attraction — fried Kool-Aid.

This creation has recently gained popularity as the newest fried sensation debuting at county fairs across the country.

Charlie Boghosian, the same man who created deep fried Coca-Cola and deep fried spam has taken the frying frenzy one step further by introducing this high sugar, high calorie drink as a fried treat for fairgoers to enjoy.

Creating this unhealthy concoction requires putting a batter, made up of Kool-aid, flour, and water, into burning fat and letting it sizzle for one minute.

But fairgoers pay a high price for these fried treats; most contain over 400 calories and 35 grams of fat per serving.
