For Christians around the world, Easter Sunday is the celebration of Jesus Christ being raised from the dead three days after being crucified on the cross.
 

Christians believe that Jesus was crucified on the Friday before Easter, making Good Friday a solemn holiday. Easter is thought to be a joyous celebration of the eternal life in Christ bought through his sacrifice on the cross.
 

Easter also signifies the end of Lent.
