The Easter bunny has become synonymous with Easter throughout the world, and with the holiday right around the corner, many are curious about the origins of the adorable cottontail.
 

The Easter bunny originated from pre-Christian fertility lore. The rabbit was considered one of the most fertile animals, making it the perfect symbol for new life during Spring.
 

The Easter bunny first made its appearance in German writings during the 1500’s, it was then transformed into an edible treat during the early 1800’s.

German settlers brought the tradition to the United States when they arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country.
