More often than not, symptoms of genital warts do not appear till about 2-4 weeks after the infection has set in; in some cases, months elapse before the wart signs are detected. Warts are round or oval-shaped, discolored lumps that develop on the surface of the skin.
Wart signs are usually found on the hands or soles of the feet, because these areas are subject to a lot of friction. To diagnose genital warts, a closer examination is required.
Some of the characteristics of vaginal warts, or venereal warts, are as follows:
• These warts feel like hard bumps
• They are either flat or have surface projections
• They may be large or small
• They feel itchy and may bleed occasionally
Skin scraping and punch biopsy are the most commonly employed tests to diagnose warts.
