Delaware has a varied climate with the majority of hunting seasons taking place during the fall and winter months. But hunters can take to the fields and tackle two species legally nearly year-round in Delaware.
It is illegal to hunt on Sundays, and some local ordinances may be
more restrictive than state law,
according to the Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife website. Here are some things to know about year-round hunting in Delaware.

Crows
Crows are up for grabs almost year-round in the first state. Hunting season takes place from June 26 to March 28 each year. Hunting is permitted only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There is no bag limit on the number of crows a hunter can take. While hunting crow is often considered to be varmint hunting, it’s a great way to tune up your shooting skills during the off-season.
Groundhogs
Groundhogs are essentially in open season for hunters year-round in Delaware. There are no bag limits on the number of groundhogs that can be taken either. The animals are considered an unprotected species that can be hunted with longbows, crossbows, shotguns, muzzleloaders, handguns, and rimfire or centerfire rifles.

Other Seasons
During the fall and winter seasons, hunters can take advantage of hunting a number of game animals including: deer, squirrel, turkey, rabbit, pheasants, quails and mourning doves.
General Guidelines
It is illegal to hunt at night, without a license, or to take more than the daily limit of any animal. Firearms safety is also important. Weapons cannot be discharged within 15 yards of public road or across a public road or right-of-way at any time of year. Failure to follow these guidelines can put your hunting rights in Delaware in jeopardy. For accurate hunting season dates, as they change year to year, make sure to check out the state website.
