Natural Treatments That Get a Boost From Colloidal Silver Supplements

By    |   Friday, 25 September 2015 02:56 PM

Colloidal silver supplements are sometimes used as a natural alternative to pharmaceutical medications, but in other instances they are believed to provide boosts and extra preventive measures to treatments.

Here are some instances in which colloidal may be useful in conjunction with other typical and homeopathic treatments:

1. Some people believe colloidal silver may be useful in preventing cancer, however no reliable human evidence that it is an effective cancer treatment has been found, according to Natural News.

2. To treat burns, skin wounds, and skin infections, putting colloidal silver in bandages has shown to help with healing, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

3. To help fight bad breath even after teeth brushing, some people gargle colloidal silver.

4. Colloidal silver has also been combined with colloidal copper, zinc, and homeopathic remedies called Cinnabaris and Rhus tocixodendron to fight colds and the flu.

5. Combined with bee propolis, red clover, and licorice root, colloidal silver can be useful to fight bacterial and viral infections in a person’s throat and trachea, according to Natural News.

6. Combining apple cider vinegar, water, colloidal silver, and moisturizer is a "sure-fire home remedy" for athlete’s foot, says Natural News.

7. The Silver Edge reported mixing colloidal silver with calcium Bentonite clay powder can help heal boils on skin without irritating sensitive areas.

8. According to Mercola.com, using colloidal silver supplements with antibiotics may help decrease resistance to antibiotics and reduce the dosage needed for the drug to work.

There are drugs with which colloidal silver should not be used. These include quinolone antibiotics (ciprofloxacin [Cipro], norfloxacin [Noroxin], ofloxacin), tetracycline antibiotics, thyroxine, and penacillamine (Cuprimine). According to the FDA, the silver interferes with the absorption of these drugs, rendering them less effective.
